If you hadn't heard, some little recording act by the names of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis played a show in Yakima about a week and a half ago. Yeah. THAT Macklemore.

My son and I were among the less than 500 people who actually got to witness the show at the sold-out Seasons Performance Hall. The show did not disappoint and neither did the efforts of the musicians to reach out to their fans. The two signed 100 to 150 autographs for fans (many who could NOT make it into the concert) outside the venue before the doors officially opened. I can't recall any other artist or act of that stature doing something as unique as that.

While my son and I weren't as lucky to get a signature, my boy did come home with what might be an even more unique souvenir. At one point during the show, which was part of the "Camping Trip" tour, Macklemore brought a Weber grill on the stage and proceeded to roast some weenies. He then put them into buns and handed them out to fans in the first few rows. My son, who is just 11 years old, managed to squirm his way down to stage left and watch the show. At one point, one of the two people playing percussion in the band, busted a drumstick. He stuck it in one of the leftover buns and handed it to my kid!

Needless to say, that souvenir was not available for purchase at the merch table (like the tin mug and backpack were!)
