After teasing fans with the possibility of new music earlier this week, The Weeknd has surprised listeners with a six-song EP, My Dear Melancholy.

The EP is just as the title suggests—forlorn.  Maybe his breakups with Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez took more of a toll on Abel's brooding soul than previously thought.

"Call Out My Name," which fans are already associating with his breakup with Gomez, opens the EP with a haunting bass line and The Weeknd's wispy vocals.

"Guess I was just another pit stop / ‘Til you made up your mind / You just wasted my time," he admits, his vocals volleying between aching and accusatory on the song, produced by Frank Dukes.

The saga of heartbreak and pain continues on "Wasted Times," where he sings about losing his love.

"And now I'm askin', who do you belong to now?/Who you give that love to now?/Who you pullin' up on?/Who you gettin' sprung for now?" he questions on the hook over thumping drums before admitting he "don't wanna wake up" if his lover isn't next to him.

Speculation has already started about whether this is the first release of a trilogy a la 2011's House of Balloons, mostly because the title has a comma at the end, indicating there's possibly more to come.

At any rate, the singer certainly has people in their feelings already. You can listen to the album below and take a look at some of the Twitter responses too.
