Toxic Plants in WA to Keep Away From Your Pets

We love our animals SO much and to have them taken away prematurely is the worst thing ever. If your animals love hanging around in your yard or you've got livestock in your fields, are you aware of the plants and shrubs that could do some serious damage to them in this area?

According to Washington State University, this is what you should be careful with

Wild cherry, chokecherry, black cherry, peach, apricot and cherry laurel (Prunus species) have poisonous leaves, twigs and bark.

The fruit isn't the deadly part, it's the seeds if ingested.

Japanese Yew (Taxus cuspidata) leaves and branches are poisonous

Oleander (Nerium oleander) can be super toxic, both fresh and dried parts of the plant are toxic

Rhododendrons - Honey bees love them but ingesting the leaves, nectar, or petals of the plant is toxic to humans and animals

Death Camas (Zigadenus venenosus and other species) it's the name used for four or more species of a type of plant that sort of blooms like an onion but it's not and humans consuming it could also get sick. It's the first to pop up in the spring so it's a prime target for animals looking to munch on something and can be deadly. - Washington State University

Lilies - Certain types of lily — those from the Lilium or Hemerocallis species — are very, very dangerous for cats. These include Asiatic, Day, Easter, Japanese Show and Tiger lilies
