Washington state is no strangers to bars and pubs. After all, Yakima had the first brew pub after Prohibition in Grant's Pub (now closed). That got me thinking where the oldest bar was. To my surprise, it was also a bar I've seen several times on TV, but the TV show would have you think it's in another state.

Washington's Oldest Bar: The Brick Saloon in Roslyn.

The small town of Roslyn is a little north of Cle Elm on I-90. It was also the filming site of the '90s TV show, "Northern Exposure." Although the TV town was in Alaska, we knew exactly where it really was.

The Brick saloon was featured in many episodes. They didn't even bother to rename it as they might have on other TV shows.

It's called the Brick for two reasons: It's made of brick and there is a jail cell inside the saloon in case someone gets out of hand.

Established in 1889, The Brick is the oldest continuously running bar in Washington state, according to Wikipedia.

There is a bar that is older, however, in Brickleton, Washington called The Bluebird Inn that was established in 1882 but that bar has gone through various name changes and owners through the years. The Brick is The Brick, has always been The Brick and will probably always be The Brick.

You can see what other states have for their oldest bars on the Thrillist list. Out of curiosity, I looked up the one in Wyoming and it showed me someones house, so take that for what it's worth.
