Yakima Memories Kept Alive by Local Facebook Group
With so much tension in the world today, it's sometimes nice to sit back, relax and reflect on 'the good old days'. If you're like me, you're a sucker for sauntering down memory lane once in a while and I think that's okay to do from time to time. Yes, we need to keep our eye on the ball and be aware of the here and now - and not get 'lost' in the past. However, a healthy look-back is often just what the doctor ordered.
Yakima Memories is a local Facebook Group I'm really enjoying following and thankfully so are nearly 7,500 other folks - many of whom contribute regularly to the page with a wide assortment of pictures, fun facts and stories from Yakima's Past.
Often, landmark buildings are featured and it's fun to see how they've changed over the years. I enjoy trying to guess the year based upon automobile styles.
In this photo, it's referenced as 'North Yakima' which certainly dates this gem.
The landscape in Yakima has certainly changed a great deal in the past 98 years.
Sometimes there's very interesting information shared and I'm frequently leaning a great deal that I had previously not known.
Wow. Going back before Washington was even officially a State.
I really like this type of simple memory grabber. It's amazing the memories that can be conjured up with photograph. Yes, I do remember playing jacks and I wasn't all that great at it either.
Check out the private group and consider joining and contributing.Tracey Cozby is the page Administrator and I'd personally like to thank her for all of the work she has put into this page which is such a positive highlight to my daily Facebook experience.
