Good Food, New Location: Black History Month Annual Luncheon in Yakima
Yakima Celebrates the Annual Black History Month Luncheon in a New Location
Black History Month ends on February 28th, and this year, the OIC of Washington invites the public to come to the Yakima Valley College's brand new conference and meeting center to celebrate Black History Month in Yakima, together as a community.
There will be lots of delicious Soul Food and guest speakers. This event is open to the public and is free, so come on down! The event happens on Wednesday, February 25th at 11:30 a.m.
This Black History Month Moment Represents More Than Just a Meal
I know that I'll be there to support this event. They had me at Soul Food, but I'm staying to celebrate my own Black History culture!
I'm intrigued to see what the traveling Black History Museum is going to be like. The "museum" opens 11 a.m. inside the conference center. It will contain some treasured historical vibes that showcase notable moments of Black culture that have enriched our region and our country.
Some of these artifacts are said to originate from the 1700s!
The Keynote Special Guest Is Said to Be a Fascinating Speaker
At noon, a few local leaders from Yakima's Black community will speak, leading up to the keynote speaker, Fred Saffold, who is nationally recognized as a Black history public speaker. He's also the CEO/founder of the True Black History Museum.
The new YVC center is located at the Kaminsky Conference Center at 1704 W Nob Hill Blvd in Yakima.
