If You Are Evacuating the Fires Near Chelan, Here’s an Emergency Shelter You Can Go to Right Now

Residents who are evacuating due to the Henderson Fire in the Chelan area are advised to seek emergency shelter now. If you need a space to go, try the American Red Cross.

I can't imagine how terrifying it must feel to find yourself in the middle of a wildfire with little time to escape, so my heart and thoughts are with everyone impacted by these fires.

Our sister station, KPQ News in Wenatchee reports that the Henderson Fire has reached Level 3, meaning residents in the immediate area need to get out NOW.

There is a Wildfire Evacuation Center at 103 Bighorn Way in Chelan. Here you can find emergency food, a place to sleep, bathrooms, and water.

"Evacuees are encouraged to bring the following for each member of their family: prescription and emergency medication, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents, and other comfort items." - American Red Cross Northwest Region

Kristin Goodwillie, Communications Manager for the center, said in a press release that families with kids are advised to bring along some of their toys, diapers, toiletries, and baby formulas if you have time to do so while evacuating safely.
