Craft beer is gaining popularity among many in the Yakima Valley. After all, about 75 percent of the hops used in beer comes from our backyard. If you can't always go out and sample what we have to offer on tap, you can also get a growler. A growler is a 64-ounce jug that you can fill straight off the tap and take home. It's very convenient. If you're looking to get growlers or where you can fill them up, here is a list of places in Yakima you can fill your growlers and take your draft beer to go.

  • The Beer Shoppe

    302 W. Yakima Ave

This place was made for beer lovers, by beer lovers. They not only feature several beers on tap that rotate often -- including specialty beers and ciders -- they also carry a variety of bottled beers to sample.

  • Good Spirits

    6 N. Fair Ave.

This is where the old liquor store used to be -- across the parking lot from Target. Actually, it's still a liquor store, but they have a few taps for growlers as well.

  • Bale Breaker

    1801 Birchfield Road

When in doubt, go straight to the source. Bale Breaker has an open tap room and would love to fill your growler with beer they've made in-house. Or maybe it's in-barn with this place. I love everything they have, but would highly suggest the Top Cutter IPA.

  • Yakima Craft Brewing

    2920 River Road

Another place where you can enjoy Yakima Craft beers. They have a tap room and are expanding to a location in downtown Yakima to include a food menu. Get the 1982.

  • Log Cabin Cafe

    3508 Fruitvale Blvd

The Smitty's Conoco on Fruitvale is also home to the Log Cabin Cafe where, as their sign states, they do fill growlers. Nice and convenient!

  • Jackson's

    432 S 48th Ave.

Jackson's Sports Bar and Club House Lounge at 48th and Tieton has great food, pool tables, football on the TVs and a variety of beers on tap. But did you know you can get growler fills there, too? They'll do it for you -- just ask!
