Growing up I wasn't really allowed to watch anything considered, "evil" so for sure I went over to my best friend's house and we tried multiple times to get through  The Shining.

Probably my freakiest memory was staying at my cousin's house and they showed introduced me to Candy Man. I didn't want to get into trouble so I said nothing and didn't sleep a wink back at home with mirrors facing my bed and the who thing. I was officially terrified but what great memories!

Oh Mylanta! Definitely has to be Hellraiser! Super gory to the bone! We weren’t allowed to watch it. But, I managed to get my uncles to let my younger brother and myself to watch them. My elder sister was super freaked out by the movies and wouldn’t ever watch them again. Second comes Nightmare on Elm Street. I was super traumatized by the movies because my father had a mask and a glove to add to my fears as a kid. I used to have nightmares about it because my dad would wake/Scare the living ish outta me. So dreams and reality were scary. Poor parenting. Haha but I’m okay now. lol that was a long time ago. - Mr. Seahawk

Okay Sarah, I have to tell you my horror movie story. Growing up I hated spiders, still do. Me and my cousins were watching Arachnophobia, the one with John Goodman from the early 90’s. The movie was at the ending where they were fighting the spider in the barn, I looked over and there was a giant spider crawling on my shoulder, I will never forget that moment. - Robert

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
