How to Fix the ‘Chirp’ from Smoke Alarms – The Most Annoying Sound in the World
When a smoke alarm chirps, I know it's just telling me to change the battery, but can't it wait until it isn't the middle of the night.
Any other time of day, really, would be acceptable.
When I come home from work would be great. When I'm at home doing the dishes would be fine. Even when I'm brushing my teeth before bed, chirp away! I don't mind getting a new battery to install. Smoke alarms, after all, is there for our safety.
However, when it starts chirping every few moments at 2 a.m., the only thing I want to do is take a hammer to it.
Fixing the chirp is an easy remedy, basically just replace the battery, hold the test button for a few moments and you're golden. My problem is I never have any 9-volt batteries just laying around so it always involves a trip to the store.
Either way, if I had to say my most annoying sound, it's definitely the chirp from smoke detectors. What's yours? Tell us in the comments below.
