I scream, you scream, we all scream for National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Well, that doesn't quite have the same ring to it, but you know where I'm going with this. To celebrate one of the most popular flavors of ice cream -- and the flavor that was always first missing from our box of Neapolitan when I was growing up -- here are several places you can savor this auspicious occasion in Yakima.

For the sake of this list, I'm omitting frozen yogurt as it's not ice cream and also omitting places because of their awesome milkshakes. Sorry Miners, Majors, Peppermint Stick and so many more. You'll have your own list soon enough.

Ron's Taco and Burger -- 16th and Lincoln
This is first and foremost on my list. I'll never grow tired of seeing how large their large soft serve cones are. Whenever I have friends visiting from out of town during the summer months I make it a point to visit here with them to see their same reaction. And cheap, too!

Stop & Go Drive-In -- 28th and Fruitvale
Like Ron's, they also have super-large soft serve cones. I like to bring my family here sometimes. Great food, too!

Ashley's Botanas Locas -- 24th and Nob Hill
I love bringing my kids here. They have a bit of everything including flavors and options you wouldn't find in most ice cream places. Worth the visit.

La Michoacana Ice Cream -- 11th Street and Nob Hill
If you've never had the chance to check this place out, it's worth the visit. It looks very fun on the inside with the vibrant colors and plenty of options to choose from.

Baskin Robbins -- three locations in Yakima
A traditional favorite. Sure, they have existed across the nation for years but there's good reason why. You can never go wrong.

Winegar's Homemade Ice Cream -- Ellensburg and soon in Yakima
So far they have a place in Ellensburg but are opening a location in Yakima very, very soon. Once you try their ice cream, you'll be hard-pressed to ever buy the stuff that comes in a box at your local grocery store ever again. On that note.

Your Local Grocery Store
When in doubt, you have plenty of options. I'm a Tillamook fan, myself, but whatever suits your fancy.

Make Your Own
If you've never made your own ice cream, it's a lot easier than you think. All I do is buy some whipping cream (the heavy stuff), mix in your flavors. In this case just a few pumps of Hershey's syrup should do. Mix it up, add some extra sugar to sweeten it up and leave it in the freezer. What can I say, it works!

What did I leave out?
