On Sunday my wife suggested we all take a road trip to Tri-Cities. At first I didn't think much of it until I remember her saying they had a restaurant that serves legit ramen -- something I've been vying for in Yakima for years. I figured 'why not' and glad I did.

The place is called Shiki Sushi & Grill in Kennewick. Sure, they had other items on the menu from the Hibachi grill (much like Kyoto's here in Yakima) but they had the ramen I've been dreaming about. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's the fact Yakima doesn't have a proper ramen option in town. A few places have had it in the past, and is even on the menu at Kyoto's, but isn't like this type of ramen.

Even if you grew up with Top Ramen, this is fantastic and, dare I say, worth the drive.

It is pricy. A bowl of this stuff will cost you about $12. That's the same price as about 50 packs of ramen, depending on where you buy it and if it's on sale. Still, every once in a while you should treat yourself. It's a complex flavor that soon as you try it you'll be craving it a few days later.

If you happen to be in the Tri-Cities and need a place to eat, I'd suggest Shiki's for sure.
