The civic and service-minded folks at both the Yakima and West Valley Kiwanis Clubs - who have presented us the annual fun-time "Rock the Gap" fundraiser, are at it again!
The two clubs announced in a press release on Monday (April 5) that they have teamed with Single Hill Brewing in downtown Yakima to present "Rock the Crab" -  a drive-thru pick up crab dinner!

One silver lining of the pandemic is that it has forced businesses as well as consumers to consider new ways using old methods and new technology in order to continuing enjoying things (food!) we have all become accustomed to while maintaining protocols. Utilizing the good, 'ol fashioned drive-through has become as popular now as it was back in the 1950's. While most of those were hamburger stands, why we never thought of "drive-thru" crab feeds is a mystery to me! But now that is becoming a reality!

The "Rock the Crab" fundraiser will be held in downtown Yakima at Single Hill Brewing on Saturday, May 1st from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $50 apiece. If you purchase 10 tickets, you will get one free!

Each ticket allows one person 1.5 pounds of Dungeness crab meat courtesy of Deep Sea Market Crab Feeds, a serving of coleslaw from Wray's IGA, bread, dessert, a $10 discount on a 4-pack of Single Hill Brewing brews and some extra cool swag. You can take your meal with you or stay on the premises to enjoy it as the alloted capacity will allow.

From the press release, proceeds from the event will "go to helping kids in our community through projects that Yakima Kiwanis and West Valley Kiwanis support. Programs like Camp Dudley, Elementary School Reading Program, Free Bikes 4 Kids, Blue Jeans Basketball, and many more."
