I’m not a psychic, and the Farmer’s Almanac isn’t one either, yet every year, we seem to flip the old pages in that book to see weather predictions. I suppose in times past, that booklet gave farmers a good sense of what to expect during pre and post harvest. This year, the Farmer’s Almanac has already predicted an “unusually wet and snowy winter” for Washington state, but what I want to know is when are we supposed to be getting the first round of snow this fall/winter?

We always expect it to snow in Washington state during November thru March, so hearing that we might be getting some snow showers as early as the 3rd week of October 2023 is a bit of a shock.

HOW MUCH SNOW WILL WASHINGTON GET THIS WINTER?

The Almanac is predicting less snow this winter than we are used to getting, however the bad news is that it’s expected to be colder than ever. UGH. I don’t like this weather news.

The Farmer’s Almanac’s exact words are:

“Rain and snow showers, cool”

Hold up, are they trying to say, "Hey man, that's COOL you're getting some rain and snow showers!" or "Rain, snow showers, and COOL temps?" Guess we'll have to wait until October 18-27th to find out.

Keep in mind, just because it says to expect the first snow in Washington in October 2023 doesn’t mean it’s going to be a huge dump with a snow white out, or even enough flakes to shut down school and build snow forts. I’m sure the kids would prefer it to be that way, ha!
