Wapato Middle School Gets Ready For The Cultural Unity Fair 2022

The Wapato Middle School is getting ready for the 39th Annual Cultural Unity Fair(CUF). Where the students and staff are doing another drive-thru event. Due to the pandemic.

In the past, before the pandemic arrived. The students and staff of the Wapato Middle School would put on performances. Showcasing different cultures from around the valley. Including Native American, Filipino, and Mexican. Plus other performances and dances from different eras. Like the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

For decades the Cultural Unity fair was held at the Capital Theatre in Yakima. But the last of these shows were held in the late 90s. Then CUF was moved to the Wapato Middle School. Were the community would be able to enjoy dinner and a show.

Everyone would gather to enjoy foods from different cultures. From frybread, pizza, to lumpia. Just naming a few of the foods. And every time there would be long lines. especially for the famous cheese zombies.

But again, due to the pandemic. The Wapato Middle School has chosen to do a drive-thru event for CUF 2022. Once again, showcasing the different foods. From all different cultures. This drive-thru event will take place from 4:30 PM - 7 PM. On Thursday, March 31st.

So thank you to the students and staff of the Wapato Middle School. For keeping the tradition of the Cultural Unity Fair going. In one form or another. And thanks to all the cooks making all the delicious food for CUF.

For those that want to go on the day of CUF. Tickets will be available at the Wapato Middle. So for those purchasing tickets at the event, please be patient. I know everyone will be excited to see all the smiling faces.

The Dinner sampler plate is $14. There is a Dessert Sampler Plate for $6.According to the Middles School's website. These plates are predetermined. And crowd favorites, the cheese zombie is $3 a ticket. A piece of salmon with some rice is $6 a ticket.
