With the world of social media, everyone has a voice and gets to whine. It has gotten ridiculous, and even hypocritical. The latest example is with the actress Ruby Rose. Now let me say, I'm a fan. She kicked ass in the last Resident Evil movie, John Wick: Chapter 2, and yes, I even watched her on Orange is the New Black.

Last week, it was announced that Rose will be playing the role of Kate Kane, Batwoman in the CW's "Arrowverse". People weren't happy. Now being a Batman fan, this community of comic nerds is only rivaled by the Star Wars fan boys, but I thought she fit the character perfectly, she can fight, is athletic, sure the hair doesn't match, but that's an easy fix. But fans went and criticized her, to the point that she deleted her Twitter account and disabled comments on her Instagram.

The nerd community is getting really weird, by complaining about how Ruby can't play a lesbian character. Yes the Kate Kane version of Batwoman is lesbian. The funny thing is, especially with the nerd rage complaints... Ruby is lesbian. Before she deleted her Twitter, she left a couple of tweets rebuking the haters. “Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be Batwoman’ come from?" Rose followed up with “I came out at 12? And have for the past five years had to deal with ‘she’s too gay.’ How do y’all flip it like that. I didn’t change.”

Nerd outrage has turned into bullying. Now I'm all for voicing your opinions, and I feel that "safe spaces" are dumb and actually hurt more than they help, but at the same time, people shouldn't be pricks, even if it's to a celebrity. It looks like it is becoming the new norm, like how Star Wars fans bullied actress Kelly Marie Tran of Star Wars: The Last Jedi back in June.

Ruby Rose signed off of Twitter with a great line, and a nice "Bat Middle Finger" to the whiners with “If you need me, I’ll be on my Bat Phone."

Look for Batwoman, according to IGN, to first appear in a four-show Arrowverse crossover event on the CW soon, and Ruby Rose can be seen on the big screen with Jason Statham in the block buster Meg. Check out the video below to see Ruby in action fighting Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2.
