Local Artist Marks Off 2021 Drawing Challenge!

I wanted to bring you a feel good story, so here you go! Now that we're past the halfway mark of the first month of the new year (2022), how are those new years resolutions coming? You still going strong or did you give up already? If by chance you were one of the many who have already given up, DON'T! Just start again! Who is stopping you? No one but you! Enjoy the small victories and just take it day by day! That's why I wanted to share this goal that one of our listeners achieved, simply by doing it, one day at a time!

Yakima listener Jena Elix has been drawing pretty much all of her life, and back in 2018 she attempted the goal of drawing something every day. She made it into March. So with the year 2021, she set the goal back up, and nailed it!

I first realized her goal back in February of 2021 when she was asking for suggestions and ideas of what to draw. The above picture was the suggestion from me for a "Literal DJ" a "Disc Jockey"! I think she pretty much nailed it! Since then, even though there many times that she wanted to give up, she kept to her goal and accomplished it!

"The hardest part of the challenge was just drawing EVERY DAY and coming up with ideas. Luckily friends & my on-line community helped give me suggestions as well as encouragement to keep going." - Jenae

 

She wrapped up the year by re-drawing her FIRST drawing. A nice sentimental way of congratulating herself. Goals for 2022 is definitely taking a break from the day to day task (sometimes it felt like a chore) or drawing. She's been commissioned to do some art projects, as well as other crafting projects that took a back-seat to the drawing challenge last year. Not to mention juggling a job, a family, and helping out on the Geek Gauntlet Podcast, 2022 looks to be just as busy if not busier than 2021!
