National Night Out was fantastic yesterday. The weather ended up being just right for music, dancing, food, and fun at Miller Park in Yakima. If you missed it, no worries, there are plenty more chances to hang out with the community and enjoy this gorgeous area.

What Is National Night Out?
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
The portion I don't recall happening is something my co-worker Dave mentioned happened all the time while he was growing up. Neighborhoods came together and mingled with the people that you lived next to. It's a great time to get to know each other, even a perfect time to set up a block watch
Block Watch is a group of neighbors that band together to watch out for each other and to report crime, suspicious activity and serious code violations on their street.
Should We Bring It Back to Block Party Days?
In short, I say yes and yes and yes again but below you can say your piece with a vote. With social media and covid keeping people from interacting, it would be a shame to not trust anyone. I've always heard the saying, it takes a village to raise a child. How about it takes a few block parties to keep a city safe?
