Washington State Oscar Buzz: Here’s the Must-See List of Who We Want to Win
Ratings for the Oscars seem to go down every year, but this Sunday you will find me glued to the TV screen for the Academy Awards like I am every year. I find shared Oscars excitement and solidarity inside geeky Facebook groups with strangers across America, where we discuss who was the best dressed and who was robbed of an award.
A quick look at the search trends for Washington State tells me that others like me exist in Washington this year. Hooray! "Oscars 2025" is in the top 25 searches today.
Conan O'Brien is the host, so I expect the night to be highly entertaining!
I can't wait to hear which acceptance speech will be the one everyone will talk about in the news the next day. I have seen TWO of the Best Picture nominees: Wicked (of course!) and Dune: Part Two. I'll be happy if either one of those wins (but I'm not expecting Dune to win).
We can expect to see Gene Hackman included in the In Memoriam this year. #RIP
Nominees for the 2025 Best Picture Motion Picture Film include:
Anora
The Brutalist
A Complete Unknown
Conclave
Dune: Part Two
Timothy Chalamet stars in Dune: Part 2.
Emilia Pérez
Karla Sofia Gascon stars in Emila Pérez.
I’m Still Here
Nickel Boys
The Substance
Wicked
Cynthia Erivo is nominated for her starring role in Wicked.
Washington's TOP picks to win (in order of search volumes):
- #1: Nickel Boys
- #2: The Brutalist
- #3: Conclave
- #4: Emilia Pérez
- #5: Dune: Part Two
- #6: Wicked
Where to Watch the Oscars?
4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on ABC, Hulu, and you might be able to catch a red carpet live stream from the E! channel on YouTube beginning at 1 p.m.
Who Are Some of the Oscar Presenters This Year?
The only presenters I'm looking forward to seeing at the Oscars this year are Halle Berry, Robert Downey Jr., Penelope Cruz, Goldie Hahn, Amy Poehler, Emma Stone, Bowen Yang, John Lithgow, and Oprah.
