It's not everyday that celebrities from 70s, 80s and 90s TV shows, music, movies, and sports come together in one place, but the team behind Rewind Washington Con made it happen on Saturday and Sunday, March 28th and 29th in Puyallup. If you didn't get to attend the event at the Washington State Fair Event Center (or didn't even know this kind of convention existed), stay tuned because I'm about to regale you with what you missed!

A Pop Culture Time Capsule at 'Rewind Washington' in Puyallup

It was a fun retro weekend filled with 70s, 80s, and 90s nostalgia in Puyallup at the 'Rewind Washington' Convention. There were rows of couches where you could sit down and play video games from back in the day, including my favorite, Guitar Hero!

It looked like over 50 vendor booths were there, selling everything from rare collector comics and toys plus Rewind Washington merch, neon LED signs, stickers, pens, and vinyl records.

The celebrity lineup for Rewind Washington was incredible, but to be honest, I didn't know or recognize half of them. I will admit, I wasn't the biggest TV watcher when I was a kid (I was more into reading books like the Sweet Valley High series and assigned class readings like The Joy Luck Club.)

Each celebrity had their own booth table where if you paid the extra $80 fees, you could get photos and autographs with a star from many of your core unlocked childhood memories.

Reliving the Good Old Days at Rewind Washington

Gen Xers and a handful of Millennials grew up watching TV shows like Family Matters, Land of the Lost, and Nickelodeon's tweenage obstacle course competition, Double Dare. We had household favorite names like Ed Begley Jr., Bobcat Goldthwait, Erik Estrada from CHiPs, and singers like Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.

Fast forward the nostalgia to the 90s, where boybands like Nsync and movies like Back to the Future were all the rage and kids shows like Barney, Dora the Explorer, Full House kept us glued to the tube in a time before the internet.

I was there for one reason, and one reason only: JC Chasez from Nsync. For me, he was worth driving 2-plus hours and nearly 80 dollars worth of gas to see. When I spotted his booth at the Rewind, it was packed. Fortunately for me, I could be whisked to the front of the line because a friend gave me a VIP pass!

Unfortunately for me, it was an extra $60 for an autograph and $80 for a photo. I didn't have enough for either, so I didn't get to meet him in person! Womp, womp!

I did manage to fan girl over Ed Begley Jr. (who knew I was such a big fan?) and when I saw that Dave Foley was there, too, my mouth literally fell open! I remember watching him on Kids in the Hall, which was like the Canadian version of "SNL" minus the live crowds.

I didn't get to meet him in the VIP line but as I was wandering around looking at vendor booths, I saw that he and his manager were about to walk past me.

I cupped my hands together and softly yelled into the air, "We love you, Dave!" He heard me and then stopped walking and walked up to me for a brief hug.

I will never wash my coat again--it hugged THE Dave Foley!

When Is the Next Nostalgia Con Coming Up?

I had never even heard about Rewind Washington until my friend gave me her VIP pass because she couldn't go. Now that I got a taste of how they are living it up on the Westside of the Cascades, I want more cons to go to! We do have FanFest Northwest in Yakima coming up this summer in August, but I don't know if I can wait that long until then!
