I'm a huge fan of new foods, especially at fairs and live events. From deep-fried s'mores to whatever-on-a-stick, I'm down to try just about anything. When I saw deep-fried pumpkin pie on the menu at a booth at last weekend's Moxee Hop Festival, I knew I had to try it.

What they did was take a slice of pumpkin pie, dip it in funnel cake batter and fry it like they would anything from Twinkies or Oreos to anything, really.

Verdict: Not bad!

It tasted about like I thought it would. The pie was still cool on the inside as the slice was frozen pre-hot oil bath. Since it's so hot it warms up pretty quickly, though. It was like a slice of pumpkin pie nestled in a funnel cake crust because that's exactly what it was.

You might see these guys at the fair this year and at other events around town. It might be worth checking out if you're curious.
