If you've ever had the opportunity to eat at the restaurant Crafted in downtown Yakima you probably know why the Chef is a finalist for a prestigious national award. Crafted, at 22 N 1st Street opened six years ago and now Chef Dan Koommoo is a semifinalist for this year’s James Beard Awards®. Koomoo is nominated in the “Best Chef: Northwest and Pacific” category.

The owners wanted to open a unique restaurant working with local foods

Koomoo and his wife Mollie opened Crafted in 2017 and have earned rave reviews from people throughout the Pacific Northwest. Koomoo and Mollie wanted to create a "farm-to-table experience" using local food working with local growers and producers.

Over the last six years many who live in Yakima have discovered the restaurant but also people from all over the United States are raving about the food.
A press release from Yakima Valley Tourism says "regulars and guests find not only a welcoming sense of camaraderie and community in the quaint dining space, but a culinary journey of the seasons."
Final nominees will be announced on Wednesday, March 29th and winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony June 5 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery.
