The Nostalgia, It Burns: 7 Closed Yakima Restaurants We Can Still See on Google Maps
Pour one out for the restaurant homies that still live on inside our culinary hearts, and through these really old photos from Google Maps! Places we have cherished for decades closed up permanently and quite abruptly, I might add, including the most recent one, El Mirador Express on Walnut Ave.
Fortunately, fans of Taco Time can still find franchise locations in other parts of the state, Gilbert Cellars moved to the West Valley neighborhood, and we still have at least two other Baskin Robbins to choose from, like Taco Time (all Yakima and Union Gap area locations), Baskin Robbins on Summitview, Burger Ranch on S 1st Street.
As for the others, they're long gone--some of them over a decade ago. They're long gone -- except on Google Maps!

7 Permanently Closed Yakima Restaurants That Still Live on Inside These Old Google Maps Pics
#1: Arty's: 1402 Fruitvale Blvd
This was a very popular place to play pool (and see a pool sticks bar fight or two).
#2: Gilbert Cellars and 5 North: 5 North Front Street
Rumor has it that a new restaurant is going up in the old Greystone/5 North/Norm's location downtown on Yakima Ave. A little birdie told me it will be opening as an espresso coffee and snack shop in a few months.
#3: Gasperetti's Restaurant & G-Spot Bar: 1013 N 1st St
Most recently, Aqua Tequila's Mexican Restaurant & Bar took over the old Gasperetti's location, but it sadly, the building burned down earlier this year.
#4: Shari's Cafe & Pies: 1401 Lakeside Ct
It was a big shock to a lot of people when Shari's abruptly closed.
#5: Shorty's Sweets, Treats, and Cakes: 114 East Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way
Shorty's brought Cheese Zombies back on the MAP, you hear me! Nobody was making them until Linda (Shorty) started selling them. And now, lots of Yakima restaurants and bakeries are trying their best to be as good as they were!
#6: Ding Ho Chinese Restaurant, 1502 W Washington Ave
The old Ding Ho Chinese Food restaurant building has since been demolished; it's now an empty lot full of grass by the airport.
#7: The Speakeasy: 222 E Chestnut Ave
After this bar got totaled, new owners rebuilt from the ashes and gave us EZ Tiger.
