It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life ... for me :) And you, and you and you and you and you. For everyone.

I know for a fact that after the New Year hits, the gyms will be full. The healthy eating will be everywhere. People will be craving the caffeine and sugar they've sworn to give-up and then in a few weeks all will die down and get back to normal life. But does it have too?

Nope!

During my weight-loss journey I learned a few things about myself that might come in handy with your goals for 2020. I successfully lost about 60 pounds and have slowly added about 25 of it back so it's not like I am starting out all buff and good to go :)

Before we dive into my tips and because I love food and you. I gift you with one of my favorite non-healthy meals to kiss 2019 goodbye properly

The Pepper Belly

Ingredients:

1 can of Chili (whatever type is your favorite)

1 small onion chopped up

Sour Cream

Chopped Tomatos

Green Leaf lettuce (it's thick and hearty and perfect for this)

Tapatio

Mexican Cheese (I love the one with the thick shredded pieces but again your favorite)

Fritos (you could do a mixture of big and small scoops. I also love adding in some chili cheese fritos)

Passila Pepper (I love cooking this up on the stove with the direct flame and then putting it in a paper bag. Shake that sucker and the burnt pieces come off) it's such a yummy texture to add to the dish

Assembly:

While the chili is heating up I would chop all your veggies and get your toppings ready. I love a good layer so here it goes.

Fritos, then some cheese, then chili, more cheese, lettuce, veggies, sour cream and a tap of that tapatio.

This meal is incredible. You will find yourself eating much more than you should and possibly even licking the bowl. I **** you not. You will find yourself going back for seconds even though you know you shouldn't, you will be in pain and still lick the bowl to get the last bits :) It's worth it and the perfect way to say goodbye, for a while, to crazy calories laden meals.

You're welcome :)

    Speak your goals out loud

You don't have to share your goals with the entire World but it's important to speak out loud about what you want in the life. It takes hard work and perseverance but if your mental game isn't strong, it can all crumble like a house of cards. What do you want out of life? Speak it into existence out loud and often :)

    Water is free and magical

This isn't a joke. Water is awesome. It cleanse out your system while keeping you hydrated and real talk. We all are dehydrated. Eight glasses of water is the minimum and we even carry around about 10 pounds of water weight so tell me honestly, what have you been sipping on? Try it, trust be, it will change your life. A great habit to work up to and it's free :)

    Veggies are king

There are SO many options out there to help you feel satisfied so this year try some outside of the box ideas. Maybe you have always had it in your head that you hate brussel sprouts but have you ever tried to eat them as chips. Oh boy, whole new experience with so few calories and all the fancy crunch. Seasonings do wonders to things that don't have calories making you feel like you are splurging on a calorie laden meal that keeps you full but won't add pounds to your waste line.

Grab what works and toss the rest

I found a really nice way to keep myself from obsessing over the scale was picking one day and time to weight myself. I wake up every Tuesday to see what I weigh. Just once a week and I don't do it again. There is no need to watch it go up and down through the week and it's not healthy.

The goal shouldn't be just to lose weight but to train your brain to be happy and content with the journey and where you are and where you're going. Also where you have been.

If veggies are free points on weight watchers, that seems like a pretty decent way to enjoy an unlimited supply of something.

Noticed you do better with your eating when you reach 10,000 steps a day? Make that a healthy habit and then try to crush that goal by inviting friends to push you further than 10,000 steps.

Find a buddy who you love chatting it up with and hit the trails around town or get yourself a bike and helmet. That's something I want to do this year.

    Be kind to yourself

Until you start making an effort I bet you never realized how mean you are to yourself. What kinds of self-talk are you doing? Are you being kind to yourself or constantly picking on your choices?

It's so important to build yourself up and it all starts with the verbiage rattling around in our brains. For every negative though replace it with a positive one.

You are worth it. You are smart and you will make mistakes but you will also not give up and you will keep going because? You are amazing and you've got this.

What positive mantras will you start gifting yourself with this coming 2020?

    Document that ish

If you don't know where you've been you can't appreciate where you are headed so I enourage you to find an outfit that you like and take a photo of yourself. A full body in all your glory photo and share it on Get It Right! Get It Tight! I will posting daily motivational videos, posts, tips and tricks. I encourage you to do the same. We will take a photo a month and see where 2020 takes us.

Actually we won't see where it takes us like we don't have goals.

Grab yourself a journal or download an app so we can get started.

Let's start learning about ourselves. Do you get super cranky right before lunch? Are you completely dependent on caffeine and it's time to weene yourself off?

You're not going to die if you cut something out or back, in fact, if you push through the uncomfortable and make it out the other side I I know you will feel so empowered.

Let's start training our brains to be healthy, to understand and listen to our bodies more and in turn we will be nicer people.

    :) Can you dig it?
