Another day another weigh-in but truth be told I am getting the hang of this business. I started Tales from the Scale in hopes that by putting myself on blast the weight would start falling off again and it is actually working. Ahhhhh.

I might make that sound super easy and truth be told. It is not. There is a method to this weight-loss madness, but I truly do feel like I have discovered some very helpful keys to success. You ready?

Last week I stepped on the scale and it read 184.6. This week I stepped on there and I saw 182.2. A slow and steady victory while working very hard on being kind to myself while I roll along. How are you doing with your journey? If you are in need of a pick-me-up, as always my free and private group on Facebook Get It Right! Get It Tight! is waiting for you. Find me on social media -- Sarah J the DJ -- because you don't have to do this alone.

Eat the foods that you love

I was shocked to discover that my favorite childhood cereal, Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, is healthier for me then what my adult brain was leaning towards, Special K. The nutritional facts don't lie and so those stories floating around about the Food and Drug Administration asking for people to up their nutrition value truly did a great job

    Count the calories

In order to know where you are headed you need to know exactly where you are at. Track everything that enters your mouth. If you miss something it's OK -- try your best to remember and if you are off by a few hundred calories, hey, at least you are doing it. The habit creates a few cool outcomes. You will become aware of the calorie counts of your favorite foods. You will begin to identify things that keep you full longer and things that do not. Your stomach might be so upset and then after months of tracking, don't let that discourage you, you will begin to know what a full day of food looks like to you. You can begin the process of adding calories or subtracting to hit your desired weight

This is a marathon not a sprint

Slow and steady is the name of the game. You want to drop 20 pounds fast? Go ahead and jump on board the Keto train, lose the weight but when it starts packing itself back on, I will be ready for when you come back.

This is a lifestyle change. It took years to form the bad habits you've created. Stress eating, overeating, under-eating. It will take years to break them. So how about we take it one day at a time?

    Have fun

The Central Washington State Fair is coming up and I want to have fun. Don't you? Two years ago I kicked off my weight-loss journey after eating every single thing under the sun that I wanted at the fair.

The next year I decided to eat whatever I wanted at the fair and noticed I leaned towards a bit more healthy things and was even interested in getting a fruit cup. I didn't but I thought about it.

This year I will for sure get that fruit cup but you know I will also be chowing down on a funnel cake topped with fresh raspberries and whipped cream. Why? Because I earned it and you did, too.

If you deprive yourself constantly you will find yourself in the kitchen in the middle of the night stuffing your face and no one wants that. Oh, was that just me? Whatever I am living my life and sharing all my food experiences because for me being open and honest keeps me on track.
